Thematic- investing. The team consists of 28 investment professionals with ambitious plans to expand the business over the coming years. Total AuM of the combined Rotterdam/Zurich teams is some EUR 17bn. The Rotterdam based Thematics team is currently managing EUR 8-9bn, split over three investment clusters. For the reinforcement of the team in Rotterdam the team is looking for a analyst to assist the fund managers of the New World Financials, Fintech and Next Digital Billion strategies.
Position & Requirements
As analyst in the Trends team you will be working closely together with the other members of the team. In particular, you will:
- Perform analysis and advise fund managers of the New World Financials, Fintech and Next Digital Billion portfolio’s on attractiveness of individual stocks within their universe with the aim of maximizing the investments returns for clients. The analyst has the medium term objective of taking up the role as co-portfolio manager.
- Communicate with (potential) clients about the fund performance, developments, market conditions and economic trends.
- Maintain a network with relevant organizations by attending conferences and visiting new and promising companies.
- Produce white papers on longer term (investment) trends.
- Analyse financial statements and research reports, meet with senior management of listed companies and build/maintain financial models to assess the fair value of individual stocks.
- Participate in meetings of the Thematic Investing team and work closely with other parts of the Robeco organisation.
Requirements
- A Master’s degree with good study results in business administration, finance, economics, engineering, econometrics, mathematics and/or a technical field like life sciences.
- > 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in fund management and/or equity research on thematics,
- Strong interest in the financial industry, fintech market dynamics and/or digital assets or digital currencies,
- Ability to form an independent opinion based on available information,
- Strong financial skills including understanding of financial statements and financial modelling,
- Strong analytical skills including business and sector analysis,
- Structured work approach,
- Clear communication style,
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently,
- Passion for equity investing, , ie long term secular trends
- It is desirable that the candidate has CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) qualification or is working towards this, and
- Fluent written and spoken English.
