Sustainability Reporting and Regulation strategist - NN

You will work with key internal stakeholders (e.g. Finance, Risk, Legal, Corporate Relations and Business Units) to develop and refine standards for sustainability reporting and to establish the risk and control framework for sustainability data.

Your impact as Sustainability Reporting and Regulation strategist at NN

In the international head office of NN Group, you work closely with your colleagues in the Sustainability team within the Corporate Citizenship (CC) department (16 people) and you are contributing to our strategic ambitions and sustainability strategy, more specifically in non-financial/sustainability reporting and the coordination of long-term projects in the area of Sustainable Finance Regulations. You will work with key internal stakeholders (e.g. Finance, Risk, Legal, Corporate Relations and Business Units) to develop and refine standards for sustainability reporting and to establish the risk and control framework for sustainability data. You will contribute to meet external commitments and regulatory requirements and realise our ambition to increase the reliability, quality and comparability of non-financial/sustainability data. You will play a key role in:  

  • Monitoring, analysing and implementing current and emerging non-financial reporting regulations, such as SFDR, EU Taxonomy and Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive
  • Further strengthening the non-financial reporting policies and processes
  • Contributing to high quality and accurate (bi)annual group-wide reporting with both quantitative information and qualitative narratives
  • Analysing and applying non-financial reporting standards and frameworks, such as GRI Standards, the Value Reporting Foundation and TCFD
  • Considering the outcomes and implementing potential improvements from sustainability ratings and benchmarks, such as the DJSI, Sustainalytics, MSCI and the (Dutch) Transparency benchmark

Your responsibilities

  • Providing central overview of Sustainable Finance Regulations that are and/or will become applicable to NN Group and its entities
  • Interpretating regulatory impact, identification of gaps between the regulatory requirements and the current situation in our organisation, and define action plans for further implementation
  • Implementing tools, processes and controls to extend and increase the quality of non-financial reporting and management information
  • Further defining key performance indicators and targets in line with the NN Group strategy and sustainability direction in close consultation with the business units and support functions
  • Tracking market and policy developments regarding (integrated) sustainability reporting

Who you are

You have a proven track record working in a complex and challenging (business) environment combined with excellent written and verbal communications skills. Furthermore, you are pro-active, self-starting and you have highly developed strategic, analytical and data skills.

You are a team player with an open mind who effectively manages relations with a diverse group of stakeholders.

We prefer candidates with the following experience and skill sets:

  • Master’s degree (preferably in law, economics, accountancy and/or social & environmental studies) and strong affinity with sustainability related topics and a comprehensive understanding of the sustainability landscape and related sustainable finance legislation
  • Working experience with non-financial reporting requirements, standards and frameworks, such as the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation, Taxonomy Regulation, Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, GRI Standards, Value Reporting Foundation and TCFD
  • Strong affinity with financial administration and processes and the ability to use analysis, leverage data, gain business insights and to develop a long-term vision, translate it to action plans and implement solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve agreed outcomes and to coordinate multiple projects in tight timeframes
  • Capacity to think both strategically and out of the box to generate new ideas and solutions and excellent communication skills; fluent in English (oral and written)

Your colleagues

Our team is responsible for material sustainability themes in relation to all our stakeholders, such as clients, employees, investors and society at large (including regulators, NGOs). We play a central role in ensuring NN is responsibly managing its impact on people, the environment and the communities in the markets in which we operate. The team supports and advises NN's Management Board and Business Units on how to contribute to positive change in society. 

Corporate Citizenship (including Sustainability) is part of the Corporate Relations (CR) department. At the international head office in The Hague, CR is a support function for NN Group’s Management Board and the business and is divided into specific specialist teams, based on the type of communications, or stakeholder group. 

The department consists of the following departments: 

  • Corporate Communications 
  • Branding 
  • Corporate Citizenship (including Sustainability, Community Investment, Art & Culture)
  • Public & Government Affairs 

The Corporate Relations department has approx. 47 employees and is steered by the Corporate Relations Management Team.

As Sustainability Reporting and Regulation strategist you will work from our office located in The Hague.

Because of Covid-19, all NN colleagues are currently working from home fully digitally. It is currently not yet clear when we can return to the office.
