As a Risk Manager at Nationale Nederlanden (NN), you will directly see the impact of your work at one of the Netherlands’ largest financial companies. We can offer you a monthly salary between €4,200 and €7,000, depending on your experience, based on a 36-hour workweek, excluding a 13th month and holiday allowance.
What you’re going to do
You will play a crucial role in helping NN with its decision-making processes using risk profiles based on models developed by our Risk Modelling and Analytics (RMA) team. The scope is diverse and includes a variety of AIRB models (PD, LGD, EAD), IFRS 9, stress testing, pricing, liquidity risks, interest rate risk models, but also ML/AI models. Helping us to further professionalise in the areas of risk management and business sense also falls under your remit. In addition, you will be responsible for:
- Assessing the quality of the data and developing clear, robust and sound models compliant with all relevant internal and/or external requirements. You’ll also monitor the performance of these models
- Writing high-quality, detailed technical model documentation, monitoring reports and data and model implementation requirements.
- Enhancing existing procedures, standards and policies
- Interacting with team members, the business, model validators, senior management, internal and external auditors and regulators to monitor requirements, get feedback and/or explain your work
- Supporting the implementation of models, internal/external validation/audits and/or supervisory inspections
Who you will work with
You will lead a young, enthusiastic team of skilful quants in an open and informal atmosphere. In this role, you’ll also deal with stakeholders from different areas, including the business and various data domains, as well as legal, compliance, reporting and IT teams and internal auditors, the model validation department and other risk managers.

Who you are
You have a solid quantitative background with great analytical skills. Displaying a pioneering mindset, you can find practical solutions to problems. You have managerial ambitions and the ability to build a team by sharing your knowledge and capabilities. Strong communication skills in English are a must (Dutch is a plus) as you’ll be required to mentor junior colleagues, influence a wide variety of stakeholders and explain complicated subjects in laymen’s terms. Furthermore, you have:
- A Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline. A PhD, additional qualifications such as RM, CFA or CQF certificates, or a second Master’s degree in economics, finance, or similar, would be an advantage
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience in a quantitative role in the financial industry and/or in a related research area
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements for AIRB models, IFRS 9 and stress testing (Basel III/IV, CRR/CRD, EBA technical standards and guidelines)
- Experience with modern programming languages (Python, SAS) and their application in statistical analysis
