Position & Requirements
The Role
We are seeking a highly experienced, commercially driven and entrepreneurial Sales Manager Institutional - Nordics to lead and accelerate the development of our institutional business across the Nordic region.
This is a high-impact role with full accountability for revenue generation and client development, requiring a deep understanding of institutional investor needs and a strong, established network across the region. The successful candidate will act as a senior representative of Robeco in the Nordic market, driving strategic client engagement and originating new business opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Institutional Sales & Client Leadership
- Full ownership of strategic institutional client relationships across the Nordics, including pension funds, insurance companies, official institutions and family offices
- Drive client retention, deepening of relationships and expansion of existing mandates through senior stakeholder engagement (CIOs, Head of Investments, Investment Committees, Boards)
- Originate and convert new business opportunities, with a strong focus on large and complex institutional mandates
- Position Robeco’s full investment capabilities, including equities, fixed income, quantitative strategies, sustainable and impact investing, and bespoke solutions
Business Development & Market Strategy
- Full accountability for revenue generation, pipeline development, and delivery against ambitious growth targets in the region
- Proactively identify and translate market, regulatory and investment trends (e.g., ESG requirements, Solvency II, ALM considerations) into actionable commercial opportunities
- Develop tailored investment solutions in close collaboration with Portfolio Management and Product Specialists
- Lead and coordinate RFPs, due diligence processes, and mandate negotiations to successful outcomes
Internal Leadership & Collaboration
- Act as a central connector across sales, portfolio management, product, client service, marketing, and legal & compliance teams to deliver coordinated client outcomes
- Contribute to the development of regional and global sales strategies, providing market insight and client feedback
- Maintain strong internal alignment to ensure consistent and high-quality client delivery
Market Representation & Thought Leadership
- Represent Robeco as a senior ambassador in the Nordic institutional market, including at industry conferences, client events and thought leadership forums
- Strengthen Robeco’s positioning as a trusted partner and thought leader among institutional investors in the region
Your Profile
- University degree, professional qualifications such as CFA, CAIA or equivalent are advantageous
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in institutional sales within asset management, with a strong track record of delivering commercial results
- Deep, demonstrable, and active network with key decision-makers across Nordic institutional asset owners
- Proven success in originating, winning, and managing long-term institutional client relationships
- Strong experience with segregated mandates and insurance-related investment solutions
- Highly driven, self-starting professional with a strong commercial instinct and entrepreneurial mindset
- Credible and confident presence at senior decision-maker level
- Ability to operate independently while effectively navigating a global organization
- Strong collaboration skills and a team-oriented approach in an international environment
- Willingness to travel extensively within the Nordic region
- Excellent command of English, both written and spoken
